Facebook has pushed out an update to its app that add features found in its other apps into the main app. You can now leave voice messages for friends and record and post videos to Facebook from the main app as well as check out the improved Nearby Tab.

What’s New in Version 5.4

Share your moments with voice messages and video recordings right in the app.
• Send voice messages when you have more to say
• Record and share videos right from the app
• Share and connect with your favorite
The video option is within the Photo status and you just have to tap the camera icon and switch to video to record.

Like the Messages App, to leave a voice message for someone (in contrast to calling them), just tap the “+” (which then turns into an “X”) to see the options for pictures, taking a photo, or recording a voice memo:

I wonder how long Facebook will keep the separate app to test features system going. Frankly, I don’t think they should stop, because I think it gives Facebook a great way to test the waters with new features before slamming something into the hands of millions of users.
